Ref_Edit is a powerful product for editing elements in reference files. Ref_Edit provides several commands which mimic standard MicroStation commands, except these commands work on elements in the active file, or in any reference file to which you have write access. Ref_Edit can also force (direct) the output from MicroStation commands to any reference file, or move data from file to file.

Ref_Edit appears as a toolbar which contains delete, partial delete, copy, move, modify, analyze, and change attributes commands. These are equivalent to the normal MicroStation commands of the same name, except these commands work on reference file elements. There is also an "add to file" command which allows the user to define a file, and then any normal command used places the elements into that file: draw, copy, move, etc. The last item on the toolbar is a save which saves all modifications you have made to all files. This can be done as often as the user would like to prevent accidental loss of changes.
